I feel a bit bad saying this as I know they're popular and the service was good, but I found it to be pretty crazily overpriced for what we had- the flavors were pretty muted (my main dish was downright bland), portion sizes were pretty small (fine if the food is amazing- it is not), cocktails were ok (you can find better in several places nearby), and the downstairs was FREEZING. Also there's 0 hooks in the bathroom, always annoying as a lady with a purse, so I had to rest my bag on a trash can... Lovely. The service was great, and the vibe is very Baltimore arty chic, but $80 pp for the above is not it.
The food at Le Comptoir du Vin was pretty good, but the interior is very tight and a meal for two is pretty pricey. Plates are comparable to Petit Louis, but I can't say it slaps as hard.
The duck rillettes and raw scallops were both pleasant, though I wanted the scallops to have a touch more acid to brighten the bites. My SO really enjoyed his veal tongue. The pot pie was good.
If you live nearby, it's worth a visit.
Absolutely charming and cozy restaurant! Met up with a couple of friends and had the group table in the front window. We split several things - chicken liver pate, crab dip, sourdough bread, and half chicken with kale salad and potatoes. Everything was delicious! Cocktails and wine were wonderful too. Our waitress was so nice and helpful as was the manager who let us linger at our table which was so kind as it is small place and we hadn't seen each other in years. Highly recommend!
Every thing is perfect at this restaurant. Amazing flavors! Try everything! Their menu changes weekly!
Best dining experience I’ve had out in a long time. Service was excellent and helpful, food and wine were as well. We had the octopus on focaccia, which came as a sandwich, but we split the bread open and ate it ipeb face so that we could savor each bite slowly. It was phenomenal. Also enjoyed the ox tongue and lentils, plus the rapini and chickpea, and pots de creme for dessert. I waited a long time to try this place, it’ll be very soon that I’m back again.
I can't express in words how much I love this place. A small cozy restaurant with only 8 tables with the only physical menus lining the walls, mirrors, and chalkboards. Not only do I love the environment but the food and service were absolutely amazing. We ordered the grilled swordfish and bavette. For appetizers we ordered the saint marcellin which we thought would be a consolation prize because the paté was sold out but that is just no true. It was so good we decided to get the half wheel of camebert which was amazing. The cheeses and in house bread were perfect, you have to order them. The swordfish and bavette were delicious, but the bread and cheese is what really stole the show in my opinion. Absolutely loved our experience, I highly recommend you put in your reservation and try them for yourself.
Adorable hidden gem of Baltimore. You can smell the quality of ingredients used as you walk in and the people are very friendly and helpful and knowledgeable about the imports from wine to vinegar to pasta and canned fish. The focaccia was fresh out of the oven, and looks and tastes phenomenal.
Everything we ate was delicious and even though we ate alot, nothing felt overly heavy or greasy. We tried the celery salad and pate to start, which was so yummy that I didn't take a picture of it. For the entree, we had the ravioli and scallops. Both were really good, perfectly sized and not heavy. Scallops were tender and cooked to perfection. For dessert, we had the blueberry and gooseberry tart which was amazing and wasn't overly sweet and hit all of my personal flavor profiles! This isn't a big restaurant, so service was great and the atmosphere was intimate. The bathrooms were gender neutral and had a cute waiting area outside. We loved the whole experience and would love to come back again with our friends!
